Continue your journey in supporting teaching and learning with the Advanced Skills Teaching Assistant Programme.

 Congratulations! You’ve unlocked a new level in your journey as a Teaching Assistant. Building on the skills from your Level 3 programme, you now have the chance to develop further and faster. In just 13 months, you can progress from Teaching Assistant Programme to becoming an Advanced Skills Teaching Assistant—delivering even greater impact for the young people in your care.

Choose the specialism that works for you, from SEND to Social and Emotional Well-being to Curriculum Provision.

  • Those currently in a role supporting young people.
  • Must have achieved an Early Years Educator (L3) or Teaching Assistant (L3) Apprenticeship qualification

  • 13 months + End Point Assessment

You will gain advanced skills in adapting learning, delivering targeted interventions and working collaboratively with professionals to support pupils with additional needs. This pathway equips you with the knowledge and confidence to implement EHCPs effectively, remove barriers to learning and evidence measurable impact for pupils with SEND.

You will develop advanced expertise in subject or phase-specific pedagogy, structured small-group teaching and assessment for learning. This pathway equips you to strengthen classroom instruction, support curriculum progression and deliver measurable impact on pupil attainment.

You will gain advanced expertise in relational practice, behaviour support and early mental health intervention within school settings. This pathway equips you to create safe, nurturing environments that enable pupils to regulate, engage and thrive.

You will gain advanced expertise in child development, communication and language, and early intervention strategies that strengthen school readiness and long-term outcomes. This pathway equips you with the knowledge and confidence to support early cognition, design purposeful learning environments and evidence measurable impact in the crucial early stages of education.
