The National College of Education was created to do more than deliver qualifications. We exist to empower educators — from aspiring support staff to experienced leaders — through professional development that’s relevant, accessible, and rooted in real school life. Our programmes build confidence, unlock progression, and strengthen the workforce that shapes the future.

2017

Our Journey Starts...

Collaboration agreements with University of Buckingham and University of Roehampton. Ofsted – Reasonable Progress (monitoring inspection). ESFA Audit.

2020

Innovation through challenge

Covid-19 crisis. Move to online delivery. New curriculum development. Launch of programmes beyond education (through NCLM). Offered MBA & wider professional CPD for our customers.

2022

Growth and recognition

Initial impact report shows 90% of learners achieving promotions. First completions of self-funded extension pathways. Development of 18- 21 programmes. Ofsted Full Inspection - Good (November 2022).

2023

Evolving with purpose

Approval of Youth Worker Degree Apprenticeship by the National Youth Agency and University of Roehampton. Impact Assessment on delivery of strategic plan and social mission. Welcomed onto DfE’s ‘Large Provider Unit’. Redesigned delivery approach to provide 2 professional learning meetings per month.

2024

Strategic growth and innovation

Teaching Assistant Apprenticeship launched. Development of strategy with DfE input. Creation of new AI driven curriculum. Development of post-election apprenticeship offer.

2025

Driving excellence and opportunity

QAR reaches 75%. Specialist Teaching Assistant and Early Years Educator Apprenticeships launched. New Senior Leadership Programme delivering free MBA route launched. Captiva Talent Partnerships deliver talent management to 20 trusts.
